December 2nd - 15^th 1968 –“OPERATIONS BLACK KNIGHT I AND II”- Thua Thien and Quang Tri Provinces, I Corps –

A cordon, search and clear operation to find and destroy the C113 Liberation Front VC as well as NVA forces which were operating in the area. This operation was plagued with booby traps, punji pits, anti personnel and other mines and rice and weapons caches along with enemy fighting positions and bunkers. Results of the operation were 1 US KIA and 8 US wounded. The enemy had 2 VC KIA 15 POW and 10 Chieu Hois. Over 25,000 pounds of rice were located along with military hardware of various types.
