July 5 1969 Part 3 of  “OPERATION MONTGOMERY RENDEZVOUS” – A Shau Valley, Thua Thien Province, I Corps -

The 3^rd/5^th Cavalry was given the mission to construct a tank trail from the Valley floor to the crest of Hill 937. There was no contact until the units reached the bottom of the hill. Then they were placed under daily mortar, rocket, and sniper fire by the NVA.
