Although contact with the enemy was light and sporadic the NVA continued to avoid direct contact. After sweeping across the Valley floor, Russian and Chinese military equipment was captured and many bunkers, tunnels, and fighting positions destroyed. The casualty results of this operation were 6 US KIA (4 from B/3-187 from an anti-personnel mine) and 4 US wounded. The NVA had 4 KIA. On September 15 one 3rd/5th Cavalry trooper was killed and two injured when a CH-47 carrying a 500-gallon blivet full of JP-4 fuel dropped it, which landed on top of an ACAV. It is not identified which ACAV this was.
